THE ASSOCIATION BETWEEN ALBUMIN-DERIVED NEUTROPHIL TO LYMPHOCYTE SCORE AS A BIOMARKER OF DISEASE ACTIVITY IN RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS PATIENTS
Abstract
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA), an inammatory autoimmune disease,
poses challenges in understanding its pathophysiology, with
contributions from genetic susceptibility and environmental factors
[1,2]. Despite affecting only a small percentage of the population, RA
exhibits a higher prevalence in women. Globally, it is estimated that
RA affects around 0.5-1% of the population, with regional variations
[3]. Joint erosion and deformity, driven by synovial inammation, are
characteristic features, leading to physical impairment and a reduced
quality of life [4]. Current treatment strategies focus on minimizing
disease activity, often assessed through the Disease Activity Score of
28 joints (DAS-28) system, although challenges persist in accurately
gauging inammation [5].
